Disneyland Paris Main Street Horses Retire As The Horse-Drawn Streetcars End After 34 Years

The Horse-Drawn Streetcars no longer run on Main Street, U.S.A. at Disneyland Paris. The horses that pulled them have been retired, and the streetcars have not carried guests since Thursday, October 1, 2026, ending an attraction that had been part of Disneyland Park since it opened in 1992.

DLP Report called it “the end of the road for the Main Street Transportation trolley,” adding that the horses have reached retirement and that no plan has been announced to replace them. The fan site repeated the news in its weekly News & Photo Report #259 for September 28 to October 4.

No Announcement From Disneyland Paris

Disneyland Paris has not made any public statement about the closure. There is nothing about it on the resort’s official news site, and as of Sunday the official Horse-Drawn Streetcars page was still online, still inviting guests to “travel in style down Main Street in an ornate horse-drawn streetcar for a classic 19th-Century style experience.”

French site Disneyphile reported that the attraction closed with no communication on any of the resort’s channels, and that Disney has not said whether the streetcars will be replaced or what will happen to the vehicles themselves. German site dein-dlrp also noted that Disneyland Paris has not confirmed the end of the attraction.

The retirement did not come out of nowhere. In early July, KennythePirate reported that Disneyland Paris planned to retire its Main Street horses by the end of 2026, leaving the park with no horses heading into 2027.

What Happens To The Horses

According to Disneyphile, three streetcars ran on Main Street, each pulled by Percheron draft horses that lived on site at Pony Farm, a large backstage area on the Frontierland side of the park that also housed goats. The site reported that all of the horses will go to stables where their care will continue, that new owners have already been found, and that most are returning to where they originally came from. The harness and grooming equipment is being sold internally.

The end of Pony Farm also affects weddings. Disneyphile reported that the horse-drawn Cinderella carriage used for wedding ceremonies inside Disneyland Park goes away with the horses, and that it is not yet known what will happen to the carriage.

A Small Ride With A Big Role On Main Street

The streetcars were never a high-capacity attraction, and guests had seen less of them lately. Pixie Dust DLP noted in July that the streetcars had been running for only a few hours in the early morning in recent years, so most visitors never saw them. In its closure report, the site said the streetcar had rarely been out in recent months.

Even so, the horses were part of how Main Street, U.S.A. looked and sounded, with the streetcars carrying guests up the street from Town Square. This is also not the first time Disneyland Paris has stepped away from horses. Disneyphile pointed out that the horses of the Buffalo Bill dinner show in Disney Village were retired when that show closed for good in 2020.

The change lands in the middle of a busy season for the park, which is running the reimagined Disney Halloween Festival through November 1.

Up Balloons Arrive At Wilderness Explorers Sky Swings

Over in Disney Adventure World, a balloon topper has been installed on the roof of the upcoming Up attraction, as DLP Report showed in photos on October 1. Disneyland Paris has named the ride Wilderness Explorers Sky Swings and says it will open in 2027 on Adventure Way, across from Raiponce Tangled Spin. The swing carousel will have 64 places on 48 chairs, including some two-person chairs, and its dome tilts as it spins. Guests join Russell’s Wilderness Explorers club to earn their “Aviation” badge, and the queue is split into four zones based on moments from the film.
