High Potential will follow Super Bowl LXI on ABC and Disney+ on Sunday, February 14, 2027. ABC revealed the plan during Monday Night Football, and it gives Kaitlin Olson’s crime drama a huge launch pad as it heads into its third season.
The episode will air right after the game wraps. Season 3 arrives in early 2027 on Tuesday nights, with episodes streaming the next day on Hulu. That is a longer wait than fans are used to, since the show premiered in September 2024 and returned for its second season the following fall.
Why ABC Picked High Potential
The choice is not hard to explain. High Potential finished the 2025-2026 broadcast season as the No. 1 show among adults 18-49, with a 3.35 rating and an average of 16.01 million viewers once 35 days of viewing on ABC, Hulu, Hulu on Disney+ and digital platforms were counted, Variety reported.
A post-Super Bowl slot puts a show in front of an audience far larger than it would ever reach on a regular night, so networks usually save it for something they want to grow. The last time ABC had the slot, in 2006, it went to Grey’s Anatomy. This time the network is betting on its biggest hit, and the game will stream on Disney+ as well as air on ABC, so subscribers can stay put when the final whistle blows.
Disney is planning more than one Super Bowl night launch. Hulu is set to premiere The Land, the new football drama from Dan Fogelman, that same Sunday.
Who Is Back For Season 3
Olson returns as Morgan, the single mother whose off the charts IQ landed her a job helping the police close cases. She is joined by Daniel Sunjata as Karadec, Javicia Leslie as Daphne, Deniz Akdeniz as Oz, Amirah J as Ava, Matthew Lamb as Elliot and Judy Reyes as Selena.
The series comes from 20th Television and is based on the French series Haut Potentiel Intellectuel. Drew Goddard created the U.S. version and executive produces with Sarah Esberg, Nora and Lilla Zuckerman and Olson herself.
The Super Bowl itself is a big moment for Disney. It is ABC’s first in two decades, with the game set for SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California, and Disney+ will stream Super Bowl LXI to every U.S. subscriber on February 14.
